mother mary; over, over me.
So, emotions always flair when it comes to politics. Right here we have a fairly interesting thread going on about the election, the debates, and the state of the US today. No matter what your thoughts are, jump on in and post them. We’re all Americans and healthy intelligent discussion is always welcome. What did you guys think about the debates? Who are you voting for and why? Regardless, make sure you VOTE next month, people.
All gamers know that from now until January, this is the best time of the year. Unless you’re like Steve though and manage a video game store, in which case you’re being worked to death. But some absolutely amazing games have either already been released or are going to be released very soon. This week Dead Space came out, and I’m just gonna come out right now and tell you it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played, hands down. It’s The Thing meets Event Horizon/Aliens, with the gameplay of Resident Evil 4. Sci-Fi Survival Horror, and it just doesn’t get any better than this, people. This game fucks with you; it’s one of the scariest games I’ve ever played. The art design is flawless, the storyline is intriguing and refreshing, the weaponry is incredibly fun and different; I could go on for hours about it. But you really need to just go see for yourself. What else have you guys been playing, and what are you excited for?
As far as music goes, nothing crazy is going on. Eminem just dropped this new track which is supposedly from his new album “Relapse.” Say what you will about this dude, but he’s a pretty amazing rapper. Always has been. His last couple of albums have indeed been pretty shitty though. Hopefully this new album can save his career. No release date has been set yet.
Now I’m fairly sure I’m the only one that gives a shit about him, but Robin Thicke just released his new album “Something Else” a couple of weeks ago. It’s good, but he’s definitely moving towards more of an adult contemporary soul direction. Still worth your time if you’re a fan. Also John Legend’s new album “Evolver” will be dropping on October 28th and I’m pretty excited about that… his single “Green Light” is some of the best stuff he’s ever done.
A Static Lullaby just threw a cover of Britney Spears’s song “Toxic” on their myspace. It’s worth a listen, at least for the entertainment value. They make it sound interesting. Also, their new album “Rattlesnake!” dropped a few weeks ago, and apparently it’s pretty good. You can listen to songs on it on their myspace as well. I can’t believe that band is still around.
There was this band once from the 90’s called FAR who never broke into the mainstream, but made a huge impression and are now referenced as being influencial by many bands. The members of Far went on to form a bunch of other groups which also saw some success… Jonah Matranga alone had his solo outing, Onelinedrawing, New End Original, and Gratitude. Not many people know this, but he also helped the Deftones write “Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away).” Well anyway, FAR has just reunited and you can check out their new site here. Very cool stuff.
Did you like From Autumn To Ashes at all? I liked their first album. They aren’t around anymore, but now two of the ex-FATA members (and yes, one of them is Fran) have formed a group called Warship and they have a new album coming out called “Supply And Depend” which Vagrant is putting out on my birthday, November 4th. However you guys don’t have to buy it for me… for a very limited time you can download the whole album for free right here. Enjoy!
See You Next Tuesday are just ridiculously brutal. Not really into them, but for those of you that dig ‘em they have a new album called “Intervals” that drops this Tuesday. Do you want to hear a song off of it, perhaps one called “Nightmares?” Well you’re in luck! Go make your ears bleed.
That’s all I got bitches. This week’s homework is to tell THREE people whom you know, work with, or live near about our beautiful little secret called WRANKMUSIC DOT COM. Seriously. Let’s get some new blood up in here! I love the community that we have here now, but I think more is almost always better. So get out there and recruit some new wrankmusic fans.
Gamewise I just got N+ for DS from gamefly, and it’s decent. Before that it was Brothers at Arms: Double Time for wii which was good. I don’t care if WWII games are overplayed at this point, I still enjoy them.
Eminem: agreed, he’s still a talented rapper. I wasn’t loving this new track but we’ll see about the rest.
It’s funny that someone covered “Toxic” and you posted about it, the exact same thing happened when I mentioned Mark Ronson’s version a while back. I guess artists dig that track.
