I'm really not sure what big reveal you're talking about. We'll talk about it in person, so as not to throw the spoilers out there. But yeah, I have to agree. When asked about what I thought about it, the first thing I could think to describe it was how funny the movie was. I think I wanted to see more of the villain(s) doing more villanous things. I wasn't as I impressed with Iron Man as much as I was with Stark and conversely, all of Mandarin's people.

Game Of Thrones only gets better, and I can safely say after halfway (I'm assuming) through season 3 that it's probably one of the most obsessive shows I've ever experienced. the immersion that the viewer experiences is insane. before long I find myself really giving a shit about all of these families, generations' worth of storylines, enemies and alliances, the double-crosses and the backstabbing... it's all amazing. not to mention the growing power of daenerys targaryen... I'll stop now. see? this is what I mean. so good.

Bates Motel really took me by surprise. I *barely* give a shit about the original Psycho or Gus Van Sant's remake years ago (holy shit, Vince Vaughn in a dramatic role) so I really didn't think I was going to take notice to this series. but I caught the first couple of episodes randomly and I was hooked. I really care about the characters and it's interesting to see the Norman Bates character pre-"psychotic." the way the story is unfolding is excellent; huge credit to the writers of this show.

still catching Mad Men... it seems as though the show has hit a dry patch, at least for me. it was more interesting when Don and Betty Draper were still struggling with their marriage, trying to make it work in a time where divorce wasn't as socially acceptable as it is now, and Don was still The Man at the office. now that his 2nd marriage has crescendo'd as has his professional career, it seems the episodes are kind of dragging on a bit.

Justified is a show that originally, when I saw the commercials for it, I just couldn't give a shit. I'm not a fan of Timothy Olyphant as an actor, and I wasn't interested in the general feeling I got from the show (ooh - a sheriff in Kentucky, or something. SO interested). I couldn't have been more wrong. After I heard Patton Oswalt was a huge fan of the show and that actually led to him having a small supporting role in this current 4 season, I had to take a chance and bought s1 on blu-ray, on a whim. this is the type of show that just continues to get better, much like Breaking Bad (and I'm sure like The Killing which Steve mentioned above). in a similar way, it uses the episodes before it as touchstones to build on the story and delve even deeper into the criminal underworld of Kentucky backcountry. You might not think you'd be into it, but you will be. And Tim Olyphant is actually very likeable and charismatic in this series.

I am also extremely late to the game on Fringe, but I'm loving it. thank god for Netflix.

Dude, this is killer. thank you so much for the kind words - and I definitely will NOT stop reviewing comics and graphic novels as they are my one real obsession. feel free to email me if you have any more questions, or would like more suggestions... xdavenewmanx@gmail.com

If you're a fan of survival horror and post-apocalyptic stuff, I would highly recommend the first volume of CROSSED by Garth Ennis, also off of Avatar Press. it's seriously brilliant, and just as shocking as Neonomicon (if not more?)

Dave,

I just wanted to thank you for posting this review. I haven't visited Wrank is years. I'm glad I decided to because I've been looking to branch out from just reading Batman graphic Novels. The second I saw HP Lovecraft I was intrigued. Then seeing Moore's name got me even more excited. I just finished reading it, and I agree with you 100%.

I really feel like Moore nailed the feeling of a Lovecraft story. Please never stop reviewing comics. I need more.

I also picked up Extermination. That's what I will be reading next.
